Ovi is apparently Finnish for &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/intech.blognation.com\/2007\/08\/30\/nokia-launches-ovi-its-gateway-to-internet-services\/\">doors<\/a>&#8220;, which gives a hint on what they intend to do: lots of door-opening to &#8220;delivering experiences and services&#8221;, which now is their business <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mobile-ent.biz\/news\/28703\/Nokia-opens-the-door-on-new-content-era\">according to<\/a> CEO Kallasvuo.<\/p>\n<p>There is not too much on tangible details so far. Ovi is supposed to be the door (geddit?) to a bundle of services, namely their new <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/business\/6969174.stm\">music service<\/a>, their revived N-Gage gaming brand (now a service and not a device anymore; good New York Times article <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2007\/08\/27\/technology\/27nokia.html?ex=1345867200&amp;en=39ff9d4c73984052&amp;ei=5088&amp;partner=rssnyt&amp;emc=rss&amp;pagewanted=all&amp;pagewanted=all\">here<\/a>) and <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.nokia.com\">Nokia Maps<\/a>. Then, <a href=\"http:\/\/gigaom.com\/2007\/08\/29\/nokia-goes-web2ish-launches-4-new-phones-services\/\">it is said<\/a>, it shall also &#8220;the entry point for other Web and mobile services&#8221;. Which ones? Dunno&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Nokia is of course perfectly positioned to try and unify a content experience on the fragmented mobile space: its massive market share in most markets around the world allow it to push its platform onto a lot of existing devices.
